Mister Vapor- Warped Essence [treetrunk99]
Run time 16:47
Mister Vapor, formerly known for foggy minimal drones, has taken a foray into experimental sound collages. Shifting drones are accompanied by dubby basslines, fragmented sonics and bizarre audible mishaps.
If listening to this E.P. makes your reality seem to shift, don't worry-- it's just the music!
Bonus: A music video for Track Two is included with the release. Enjoy!
Note: As of January 30, 2011, this release has been remastered from the ground up using 24-bit audio. FLAC and mp3 files are derived from the studio's 24-bit WAV files. Enjoy!
And don't miss the Exciting Sequel

Fun and trippy music. The video is also good. Would be nice to hear a full release of music like this.

Sometimes You Just Have to Say . . .
This was a review I didn’t want to write. Not because Mister Vapor‘s Warped Essence (Treetrunk) isn’t a fine album, it is. No, it was because I had already reviewed an album by Thomas Park’s other alter ego, Mystified, back on June 15th. Anywho, I knew Warped Essence was out and with no plans on reviewing the album, I dutifully downloaded it because, like you, I just collect good music. Back in the home lair of Disruptive Platypus, I have built a process that adds new downloads on to various playlists that I listen to and monitor for days. After a some time through these playlists, I was drawn to a few tracks — a few tracks that happened to be from Warped Essence. Just like Joel’s best friend pressuring him into having a party at his home while his parents were out of town, Warped Essence was poking me.
"Joel, you wanna know something? Every now and then say, “What the fuck.” “What the fuck” gives you freedom. Freedom brings opportunity. Opportunity makes your future."
Well, I don’t know about “my future”, but “What the fuck” brought freedom — the freedom to bring this EP to the attention of the handful of people that may read this post. Well, my goodness, over 200 words and nary a peep about how smooth and crafty Warped Essence is. Okay then, review time: The beats flow and the drones flourish on Warped Essence leaving the listener quite fulfilled. That’s fifteen words that should leave you no doubt about the quality of Mister Vapor’s Warped Essence.
